Proflam

Flunixin meglumine is a non-steroid, anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with non-narcotic analgesic effect and antipyretic activity. It acts by blocking the prostaglandin biosynthesis, since it inhibits the cyclooxygenase. It acts directly on the CNS, decreasing the pain and inflammation.

Indications:

Proflam Injectable Solution is used for the treatment of inflammation and pain occurring along with the skeleton-muscle system diseases (arthritis, laminitis, tendinitis, myositis, etc.) in horses and for the treatment of the pains and stitches resulting from the muscle spasms of the internal organs.

In cattle, it is used as an anti-inflammatory agent for the cases of respiratory system infections progressing with high fever. Additionally, it is used in infections and pains occurring after birth, joint diseases and acute mastitis, and also for the control of pyrexia associated with swine respiratory disease.

Dosage and Administration:

Only for Intravenous Use in Beef and Dairy Cattle.

Not for Use in Dry Dairy Cows and Veal Calves. For Intravenous and Intramuscular Use in Horses.

Pharmacological Dose

It is administered at doses of 1.1 mg / kg body weight in horses and 2.2 mg / kg bodyweight in cattle, swine and dogs.

Note

It should be administered via intravenous and intramuscular route for 3 days.

It is contraindicated in pregnant animals.

Drug Residue cautions

Cattle and swine kept for meat must not be sent to slaughter during the treatment and for 21 days following the last drug administration. Milk of cows obtained during the treatment and for 5 days (10 milking) following the last drug administration should not be offered to consumption by human.

Withdrawal Period

Cattle: Meat: 1 day; Milk: 48 hours.

Swine: Meat: 21 days.

Horses: Do not use in horses whose meat is for human consumption.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Store among 15º to 30ºC (59°-86°F).

Keep out of reach of children and domestic animals.

Reseal after each use.
